• What’s involved:

1 To develop and provide support for schools creating and implementing School Travel Plans, assisting in the organisation and promotion of publicity campaigns and aiding schools to progress funding bids.

2 To play a key role in forming and supporting a group of relevant partners into a School Travel Strategy Group to develop a local strategy, linking to appropriate transportation, health, education, social inclusion and community strategies

3 To provide regular progress reports to the School Travel Strategy Group and nationally via the Regional School Travel Adviser.

4 To develop and implement a promotion and publicity strategy for School Travel Plans which will ensure that schools are aware of, and know how to access relevant and appropriate information and guidance.

5 To work with a range of individuals, agencies and organisations (both internally and externally) to ensure that available resources, information and expertise are maximised to the benefit of the school communities.

6 To co-ordinate partners from police, health authority, parishes, schools, parents, local communities and other agencies to assist the development and implementation of school travel plans

• Anticipated Length of Assignment: 9 months initially, though considered likely to be extended.

• Hours per week: 36, Monday – Friday, normal working hours
